Cookies Policy

1. Definitions and interpretation
In this policy, the following terms have the following meanings:
- "cookies" means small text files placed on your device by a website you visit.
- "browser storage" means storage built into your web browser that a site can use to save information on your device, such as keeping you signed in.
- "the Site" means the manifestchess.com website.
- "the App" means the Manifest Chess desktop application.
2. Information about us
The Site is operated by Ordinary Ventures MB, registered in the Republic of Lithuania under company number 307541958, VAT number LT100020339915, with its registered office at Eduardo Andrė g. 14-5, LT-02232 Vilnius, Lithuania. You can contact us at hello@manifestchess.com.
3. How the Site uses cookies
Cookies and similar technologies can be used for different purposes. This section explains the common categories so you know what they mean:
- Strictly necessary cookies are needed for a site to work, for example for security and basic functionality. They do not require consent.
- Analytics cookies help a site understand how it is used, for example which pages are visited.
- Functionality cookies remember your choices and preferences.
- Targeting or advertising cookies track browsing to show adverts.
Cookies can be set by the site you are visiting (first-party) or by another organisation (third-party), and they can last only for your visit (session) or be stored for longer (persistent).
The only cookie on the Site comes from the Google sign-in prompt, described in section 4. To keep you signed in when you have an account, we use your browser's built-in storage rather than cookies, also described in section 4.
4. What cookies the Site uses
We set one cookie on the Site. The Site loads Google Identity Services, which powers the "Sign in with Google" prompt, on every page. If you dismiss that prompt, Google's script stores a cookie named g_state on manifestchess.com so we do not show you the prompt again straight away. It expires after 5 minutes and is not used for analytics or advertising.
Loading Google's script also means your browser contacts Google, and Google may read cookies it has already set on its own domain. Google's privacy policy applies to that.
We set no other cookies. If we add any optional cookies, we will update this page and ask for your consent first.
To keep you signed in across pages and visits when you have an account, we save your sign-in on your device using your browser's built-in storage. This is essential for the signed-in experience and is not used for analytics or advertising. You can remove it by signing out or by clearing the Site's storage in your browser.
The Site itself uses no analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not currently plan to.
5. Storage in the desktop App
This policy covers the website. The Manifest Chess desktop App does not use cookies, but it does store data on your computer.
As well as your chess databases and settings, our analytics tool stores an identifier for your installation and a short queue of pending events in the App's local storage, so that your usage events can be attributed to your account. Our Privacy Policy explains what those events contain and who processes them.
6. Consent and control
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and clear stored site data. You can usually find these options in your browser's settings or help pages. Blocking essential storage may stop you from staying signed in.
If we introduce optional cookies in the future, we will show a cookie banner so you can accept or reject them and change your choice at any time.
7. Changes to this policy
We review and update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and revise the "last updated" date above.
8. Further information
